Things to Do in Lancaster This November

Cosy evenings drawing in, fireworks and autumn walks, Lancaster really is the place to be this month.

November might be chilly, but if you do head out into the cold, you’ll find that it's packed with charm and loads of opportunities to unwind after mid semester deadlines. Whether you’re deep into revision mode or just looking to make the most of your weekends, there’s loads going on in Lancaster to help you recharge and enjoy the chillier season.

Here are some student budget friendly things to do in Lancaster this November:

Bonfire Night

When: Tuesday 5th November 2025
Where: Lancaster Cricket Club

‘Tis the season to wrap up warm, grab a pumpkin spiced latte and head to Lancaster Cricket Club for a Bonfire Night celebration with your flatmates. There will be fireworks and food stalls, whats not to love?! Plus, it’s the perfect midweek break and just a short bus ride from Bailrigg.

Don’t forget, it gets super busy, so arrive early to get a good spot.

Take an Autumn Walk

We think that Lancaster is at its prettiest in the autumn. Why not head out with your flatmates or if you don’t fancy the company bring your favourite podcast instead:

  • Lancaster Canal: If you fancy a stroll that is peaceful, pretty and flat, this is the one for you! Start from campus and follow the canal path right into town.

  • Williamson Park: Nothing screams autumn more than crunchy leaves, fresh air and the view from Ashton Memorial. If you get too chilly, you could always stop at the café for something warm.

  • Campus Loop: If you’re tight on time but want some fresh air, a walk around campus itself can be super refreshing, especially at golden hour.

Cosy Cafe Vibes

Lancaster does cafes so well. Some of our favourites are:

The Music Room – Tucked away but brilliant for peaceful working or, of course people watching.

Holm – Colourful, creative and full of community events.

Brew – With a pebbled garden that’s still lovely on a crisp autumn day (just bring a hat and a scarf!).

Book the Cinema Room for a Film Night

Cooler evenings are the perfect excuse for movie marathons. At Bailrigg Student Living, you can book out the cinema room for you and your flat. Stock up on snacks, pick a theme (spooky, silly, rom-com?) and sit back and enjoy.

Can’t decide? Here are a few seasonal ideas:

  • Dead Poets Society

  • Knives Out

  • The Grand Budapest Hotel

  • Coraline

Explore the LUSU Farmers’ Markets

When: Every Tuesday & Thursday
Where: Engineering Square + Alexandra Square on campus

From warm bakes to street food and handmade gifts, the LUSU Farmers Markets are a lot of fun. It’s a nice mid week outing without leaving campus and perfect for getting a head start on Christmas presents!

Try Something Different

Lancaster is full of surprises, especially in November. Keep an eye out for:

  • Autumn candle-making workshops or craft pop-ups

  • Indie gigs at Kanteena or The Pub

  • Lancaster Escape Rooms for something different with mates

November is not all dark evenings and deadlines. Whether you head to a bonfire, go for a wander in the park, or hibernate in a coffee shop, Lancaster gives you everything you need to make the most of the season.
